Improving quality monitoring and support in Victoria

The policy document Cinical excellence in cancer care: a model for safety and quality in Victorian cancer services (March 2007) describes the key principles and practices necessary for effectively monitoring, managing and improving cancer services.

Clinical excellence in cancer care is not an accreditation system and it is not a standard. This document includes a quality readiness assessment tool and fact sheets.

Cancer Services Performance Indicators

The Victorian Cancer Service Performance Indicator program was established to measure progress with the implementation of Victorian Government cancer reform policy. Four key priorities for reform have been identified as the focus for service improvement at the Integrated Cancer Service (ICS) and statewide levels:

  • multidisciplinary care
  • care coordination across the cancer care pathway
  • supportive care
  • reducing unwanted variation in practice.
