Action plan update

The Victorian public health and wellbeing plan 2015–2019 sets an ambitious vision for the state: a Victoria free of the avoidable burden of disease and injury, so that all Victorians can enjoy the highest attainable standards of health, wellbeing, and participation at every age.

Achieving improvement in the health and wellbeing of all Victorians requires long-term commitment and action at all levels. State and local government, non-government organisations, businesses and communities working together in partnership will help make real improvements to the lives of all Victorians.

This action plan provides an updated overview of the major initiatives across the Victorian Government and key government agencies. The Victorian legislative context and policy priorities are outlined in detail in the first action plan for the current Victorian public health and wellbeing plan 2015–2019.

Central to improving the health and wellbeing of all Victorians is decreasing inequalities. The Action plan update includes a range of initiatives focused on achieving this aim.

The action plan continues to reflect the importance of a life course approach across the six priority areas for action and the three platforms for change established in the Victorian public health and wellbeing plan 2015–2019.

Actions, initiatives and resources available from other organisations, which are aimed at improving public health and wellbeing, are highlighted on the Victorian Government's prevention website.
