Many Aboriginal people enjoy good or excellent health. However, as a group, Aboriginal people in Victoria are more likely to experience poorer health outcomes.
Person-centred care lies at the heart of good Aboriginal health service delivery, early intervention and prevention. It is locally developed, culturally informed and empowers Aboriginal people to make the best choices about their health.
Aboriginal people access both mainstream and Aboriginal community-controlled health services. All program areas in the department and all service providers in the health sector have a role to play to ensure that Aboriginal Victorians get the best quality healthcare, regardless of the location or provider where care is sought.

Koolin Balit provides a clear path forward to achieving significant and measureable outcomes in Aboriginal health.
