The Additional family violence consultation practice note for maternal and child health nurses - aims to increase capacity within the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Service to provide greater outreach support to families in a location that best suits their needs at any point in the family’s engagement with the MCH Service.
This practice note provides guidance on identifying and responding to family violence risks and needs in MCH including guidance on:
- undertaking a family violence consultation
- screening for family violence
- information sharing
- mandatory reporting, referrals and record keeping.
