Guidelines for emergency department short stay units

These guidelines have been produced to assist Victorian health services to implement and operate emergency department short stay units that support good practice. They aim to: provide a consistent understanding of the purpose of short stay units; offer guidance regarding patient selection and reporting activity; set high-level operational measures to benchmark performance; reduce variation in care while improving service efficiency and quality.
