The Environmental sustainability strategy 2018–19 to 2022–23 sets out the department’s commitment to further improve the environmental performance of the health system and to adapt the health system so it is resilient in the face of climate change. The delivery of the strategy is being coordinated by the Victorian Health and Human Services Building Authority (VHHSBA).

The strategy contains three strategic directions, with each direction having a series of key objectives and high-level actions from 2018–19 to 2022–23. The strategic directions are:

  • provide leadership and engage with the sector
  • improve the environmental performance of the health system
  • adapt to a changing climate.

The strategic implementation plan outlines VHHSBA’s high-level focus over the life of the strategy. The plan will be reviewed annually and may change year-on-year as priorities change. VHHSBA prepared the initial plan with input from the Strategic Advisory Group at its first meeting in March 2019.

The 2018–19 action plan outlines the specific tasks to be implemented in 2018–19 to deliver against the strategic directions and objectives in the strategy.
