In order to use the Centre for Victoria Data Linkage (CVDL) services, researchers and policymakers must define a research project that is consistent with CVDL's aims, and obtain approval of a recognised National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC).

The Centre for Victorian Data Linkage consists of three teams:

  • Client Services, whose role is to initially assess the linkage technical feasibility and assist with the administration and coordination of your project from the application stage to the delivery of linkable data
  • Linkage team, also assist researchers by providing guidance, support and advice, the team will have access to identifiable data and whose role is to create a linkage map and linkage keys to provide to the content team members
  • Content extraction team facilitates the delivery of an efficient data linkage output by having access to the content data, and using the linkage keys to link different content datasets together without any identifiable data the linkage stage and by
