Department of Health

Safety and quality in public sector residential aged care

The department actively supports public health services to provide safe, high-quality care to older people living in public sector residential aged care services (PSRACS).

Positive resident experiences, health and wellbeing is promoted through care that is person-centred, safe, effective and integrated.

The department’s approach to safety and quality in PSRACS is driven through applied research, resource development and partnerships with the sector.

The outcomes of the PSRACS safety and quality program are available for use by the broader residential aged care sector.

Workforce training and development resources are currently under review.
