The Victorian Government supports programs that help older Victorians when they transition from paid work into voluntary roles or part-time work, or retire. Examples are:
- Victorian Seniors Card discounts and public transport concessions, which encourage people aged 60 years and over who have retired or who are working part time to stay involved in the community
- grants and funded programs that target lifelong learning, isolation and social participation, including culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) seniors participation grants, funding to Universities of the 3rd Age (U3A), Victorian Seniors Festival grants to councils, and funding to Seniors Information Victoria
- the Seniors Online website, which provides information on Victorian Government programs and initiatives for seniors (including information on health and ageing)
- the Commissioner for Senior Victorians, who provides independent advice to the Victorian Government on seniors issues.
