  • The Participation for CALD Seniors Grants Program aims to create or expand social participation for socially isolated CALD seniors.

Regularly connecting with people is an important part of a fulfilling and healthy lifestyle. People from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds make up an increasing proportion of older Victorians and evidence shows older people from CALD backgrounds are often at a higher risk of social isolation due to a range of factors.

Delivered in partnership with the Ethnic Communities Council of Victoria, the Participation for CALD Seniors Grants Program is a small grants program to help multicultural community groups and organisations and local councils create or expand social participation opportunities for socially isolated CALD seniors. The program helps these Victorians connect to new or existing social networks and activities.

The grants (of up to $10,000) help organisations to hold events, activities and social outings; organise help with transport, such as volunteer drivers and car pooling for seniors isolated at home; and organise information sessions on public transport. To learn more, please visit Seniors Online or contact the Ethnic Communities’ Council of Victoria.
