Summary

This document outlines the Department of Health's policy in managing people who put others at risk of acquiring the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). While most people living with HIV conscientiously avoid behaviours that expose others to any such risk, a small number of people undertake behaviours that require interventions to diminish disease spread. These guidelines are applied by the Chief Health Officer when exercising legal powers to manage this aspect of HIV transmission, so as to protect the Victorian community.
