On 27 May 2019, the $50 million Nursing and Midwifery Workforce Development Fund (the Fund) was announced as part of the 2019-2020 Victorian State Budget.
The Fund will create opportunities to train and develop more Victorians as a nurse or midwife and address current workforce shortages and projected workforce need.
The Fund will support expansion of current nursing and midwifery Government initiatives such the Graduate, Postgraduate and Scholarship programs and will create new programs such as an Enrolled Nursing Transition to Practice Program and Refresher Programs.
For a list of Enrolled Nurse Transition to Practice Program and Refresher Program providers, please see Program providers on this page.
The Department of Health and Human Services will be working closely with stakeholders over the four-year duration of the Fund to ensure its strategic implementation and roll out to priority areas and clinical settings. The Nursing and Midwifery Workforce Planning Advisory Group will provide advice and direction to ensure the Fund meets the requirements of the sector both now and during its four years.
