The Enrolled nurse workforce scoping tool was developed to help organisations interested in the enrolled nurse mapping project to help profile the nurse workforce.
Workforce Development Grants – Enrolled Nurses 2015-16
In 2015-16, Workforce Development Grants for Enrolled Nurses have been provided to assist public health services to increase skills in the enrolled nurse workforce. These grants are designed to facilitate group training opportunities. Promoting the skilling of the enrolled nurse workforce is a key priority for the Nursing and Midwifery Workforce.
Training will be delivered to groups of (minimum 20) enrolled nurses to increase their skills via participation in the Diploma of Nursing- Medication Administration and/or Advanced Diploma of Nursing. Priority has been given to the acquisition of enrolled nurse endorsements including medication endorsements, complex care (theory and clinical skills) and IV medications.
Enrolled nurse increased utilisation project
The department funded public health services to help with the costs of implementing strategies to improve how enrolled nurses (ENs) are utilised in the workforce.
This project was designed to help health services that employ ‘team nursing’ models of care. A one-off grant of $35,000 was provided to eligible health services (or consortia) to help with the implementation of an improved match of the enrolled nurse skills and competencies to growth areas in patients with chronic conditions. It is proposed to trial the effective utilisation of the workforce in clinical growth areas as aligned in the individual health services strategic planning and service needs. A report will be available highlighting outcomes of this project late in 2015.
Enrolled Nurse Workforce Scoping Tool
The Enrolled Nurse Workforce Scoping Tool was developed to help organisations interested in the enrolled nurse mapping project. It is not obligatory to use this tool but it has resources to support the profiling of the nurse workforce, with particular emphasis on scoping and reporting the capacity for employment of enrolled nurses at unit and agency levels.
See the guidelines and scoping tool in the documents section for further information.
