The predicted increase in demand for health services in Victoria demonstrates the importance of supporting health training and career pathways into the health and community services sector to grow the future health workforce.

In recognition of this, the Department of Health & Human Services has implemented a range of projects and approaches to support ‘pathways into careers in health’.

Case studies of two innovative health-training models, in North East Health Wangaratta and Central Gippsland Health Service, are presented in the following videos.

These stories demonstrate the benefits of developing cross-sector partnerships and highlight the importance of acting innovatively and proactively to attract secondary school students and school leavers into health careers.
