A strong process framework is required to inform the direction of future health workforce innovation and support ongoing investment and transference.
The Department of Health & Human Services Workforce innovation and reform roadmap provides a complete process framework supporting idea generation, project execution and guidance for wider implementation of proven successful models within the health services sector. The roadmap outlines the role of the Health Workforce Reform Implementation Taskforce and the key stages of interaction with the department and health sector to identify priority areas for reform, test new and innovative models and determine models suitable for wider implementation. It incorporates regular communications, stakeholder engagement and consultation.
Evaluation is an essential element of the roadmap. The Victorian innovation and reform impact assessment framework (VIRIAF) measures the success of new and innovative health workforce initiatives, their potential for transferability and their alignment with future strategic priorities for the health services sector. The framework is used for all health workforce innovation and reform initiatives in Victoria to inform the decisions of the taskforce.
