The Medical Workforce Survey collects data on medical practitioners working in public health services from administrative data held by each health service.

Health services should download the template and the Data Preparation guide for completing the template.

Health services in the Loddon-Mallee and Hume regions are requested to complete the template and return it to VicWorkforce@dhhs.vic.gov.au no later than Friday, 17 August 2018. Health services in these regions should also download the Consent to provide data to Aspex Consulting form, and return that as soon as possible.

All other health services are requested to complete the template by Friday, 24 August 2018.

If you have any questions about the project please contact VicWorkforce@dhhs.vic.gov.au as soon as possible.

About the survey

The Medical Workforce Survey is one of the main sources of data available about the medical workforce in public health surveys. The information gathered will be used to assist in medical workforce planning and policy development to improve workforce availability and capability across the State, particularly in regional and rural areas.

This year the survey has been expanded to include information on vacancies, on-call roster pool size and sustainability pools to help identify skills in short supply.

Loddon-Mallee and Hume Regions

Aspex Consulting has been commissioned by two Commonwealth Regional Training Hubs to undertake medical workforce projects in the Loddon-Mallee and Hume regions.

Where approved by health service chief executive officers, we have agreed to share Medical Workforce Survey data with Aspex Consulting to avoid duplication and reduce the burden on public health services.
