Ambulance and patient transport

Emergency ambulance services are used in Victoria to respond to people who are seriously ill or severely injured due to accident or illness.

Not everyone who phones 000 requires an urgent ambulance response. Ambulances are dispatched according to the medical urgency of the patient’s condition.

Ambulance Victoria is the provider of emergency ambulance services throughout Victoria.

Non-emergency patient transport (NEPT) services are provided by Ambulance Victoria and a range of private patient transport providers.
