In response to the snapshot audit of minimal volume blood sampling to prevent iatrogenic anaemia, Blood Matters has resources to assist Victorian health services to support the implementation of minimal blood sampling strategies.

Iatrogenic (or hospital-acquired) anaemia occurs due to blood loss from repeated blood sampling for diagnostic testing. Health services should develop and implement policies to promote minimal blood volume strategies that address the prevention of iatrogenic anaemia.
