Nursing Home Type Patient contribution
The Department has been advised of a pension increase that becomes effective from 20 March 2024. Pensioners and beneficiaries will see increases from their first payday after that date. As a consequence, the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing has revised the minimum statutory Nursing Home Type Patient (NHTP) contribution.
The current contribution for NHTPs in public hospitals will be increased to $75.55 per day under the Health Insurance Act 1973. This contribution is calculated at 87.5 per cent of the combined standard rate of the pension and the maximum daily rate of rental assistance.
Nursing Home Type Patient accommodation fees
The NHTP accommodation fee for privately insured nursing home type patients in public hospitals is $140.00 per night.
