Department of Health

A day procedure centre is a private health service establishment where persons are provided with health services of a prescribed kind and where persons to whom treatment of that kind is provided are reasonably expected to be admitted and discharged on the same date.

Legislation covering day procedure centres

The requirements for the safety and quality of patient care in Victoria's private health are set out in the Health Services Act 1988 (the Act) and the Health Services (Health Service Establishments) Regulations 2013 (the Regulations).

Proprietors and developers need to make sure they understand their legal obligations and how to meet the standards set out in the Act and Regulations.
