The Emergency Care Clinical Network held a forum to bring together emergency care clinicians, academics, other interested clinicians and key stakeholders to hear and discuss current evidence and best practice in emergency care.
The third forum on improving evidence-based care in emergency departments was held on the 22 March 2011 in Melbourne and 80 clinicians attended from metropolitan, regional and rural emergency departments.
2011 Evidence-based quality improvement projects
This is an annual nine month quality improvement cycle in enhancing the use of evidence-based care to reduce variation in practice and improve consistency of emergency care. Twenty one emergency departments across Victoria completed these improvement projects. The topic areas were:
- Asthma in adults
- Early pregnancy bleeding
- Oxygen therapy in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- CT scans for head injury
- Abdominal pain
- Did not wait
- Frequent attenders.
