In many cases people involved in CCS also use other health and community services, including area mental health services.

There is a protocol designed to enhance coordination and improve communication between staff of the respective sectors to better meet the mental health needs of adults within CCS with a mental illness or mental disorder.

This protocol is based on the following principles:

  • access related to individual need
  • shared care
  • confidentiality and exchange of information
  • a coordinated approach
  • assertive engagement
  • least-restrictive service option
  • coordinated care.
