Key messages

  • The Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drug Facilities Renewal Fund was established to provide grant funding for minor capital works to improve mental health facilities, to meet contemporary standards and deliver the best experience of care for people with a mental illness, staff and visitors.

This third year of funding (2017-18) is the next step in the Victorian government’s commitment to improve the quality and safety of public mental health and alcohol and other drug service facilities.

Grants can be used to remodel or refurbish existing Victorian Government funded service facilities to provide greater comfort for patients and enable clinicians to deliver safer and more efficient care that improves patient outcomes.

Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drug services can apply to the fund minor construction, remodelling and refurbishment, buy equipment including furniture, fittings, or upgrade essential infrastructure such as plant equipment, systems to reduce power and water usage and information and communications technology.

Funding upgrades will ensure all Victorians can access the high quality care and facilities they need and deserve, no matter where they live.

Funding Framework:

  • Mental Health services can apply for a maximum of 2 projects between $10,000 and $500,000
  • Alcohol and Other Drugs services can apply for a maximum of 2 projects between $10,000 and $100,000

  • Restrictions

    The Mental Health Facilities Renewal eligibility is restricted to Victorian public health and non-government funded mental health services in State owned properties. This includes:

    • Mental Health Clinical Services
    • Youth Residential Rehabilitation - Mental Health Community Support Services
  • Eligible services

    The following public mental health services are considered eligible to apply to the 2017-18 Mental Health & Alcohol and Other Drugs Facilities Renewal Fund.
