Strengthening Victoria's community health services
The Community Health Taskforce has been established to advise the Victorian Government on opportunities to improve healthcare for vulnerable Victorians.
Through an extensive review and consultation process, the Taskforce is identifying ways to strengthen the sustainability and capacity of the community health sector.
Drawing on the expertise of community health staff, consumers and collaborators, the Taskforce is working review funding models and identify the core role of community health in Victoria.
Their insights will help the Victorian Government support community health services to meet the needs of Victoria’s disadvantaged and priority populations.
- In June 2018, the Victorian Auditor General tabled a performance audit of the Community Health Program.
The Taskforce will inform and contribute to the Department of Health and Human Services’ Action Plan in response to the audit.
The Taskforce is chaired by former community health chief executive, Phillip Bain. Established in August 2018, the Taskforce will operate for a duration of up to 12 months.
