Strengthening Victoria's community health services

The Community Health Taskforce has been established to advise the Victorian Government on opportunities to strengthen community health services so they can better meet the healthcare needs of vulnerable Victorians.

The Taskforce will work with the sector and others to identify a shared vision about the role and priorities for community health now, and into the future.

The Community Health Taskforce will operate for a duration of up to 12 months and will be chaired by former community health chief executive, Phillip Bain.

The Taskforce will:

  • Oversee a review and consultation process to identify a shared vision for the role and priorities of community health services now and into the future.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the community health sector’s capacity to meet the needs of Victoria’s disadvantaged and priority populations.

In undertaking this role, the Taskforce will contribute to, and inform the Department of Health and Human Services’ Action Plan in response to the Victorian Auditor General’s performance audit of the Community Health Program (tabled in the Victorian Parliament in June 2018).
