Administrative data refers to information primarily collected for administrative purposes, which is subsequently used to produce official statistics.
Government departments and other organisations collect this type of data for the purposes of registration, transaction and record keeping, usually during the delivery of a service. This type of data is used to inform policymaking and reports.
The Health Intelligence Unit of the Department of Health & Human Services has developed various reports based on administrative data. These are:
- Ambulatory Care Sensitive Conditions
- Avoidable Mortality
- Life expectancy.
