Entries for the Victorian Public Healthcare Awards are now open

Achievement eligibility

This year's entries should relate to achievements in the last 12 months before nominations opened - from 8 April 2023 – 7 April 2024. The initiative may have started earlier, but the achievements highlighted in the entry must have occurred within this period.

Victorian Government-funded healthcare organisations that deliver public health services and programs can enter the Victorian Public Healthcare Awards.

Organisations eligible to enter can include, but are not limited to:

  • hospitals
  • community health services
  • mental health services
  • aged care services
  • integrated care centres
  • ambulance services
  • charity and non-government organisations
  • organisations delivering public health research and initiatives.

An organisation can self-nominate and/or submit an entry for a team within, or associated with, its organisation. They cannot nominate another organisation’s initiative.

Organisations that have worked collaboratively with other organisations can jointly submit for an award.

Individuals interested in nominating an initiative for the awards are encouraged to contact the associated healthcare organisation(s) so its team can consider submitting an entry.

Your organisation can submit multiple entries, but a program can only be nominated for a single award. Please note that if the same entry is submitted for more than one award, entries may be deleted.

Previous entrants

Previous entrants, including those that received commendations, can re-apply. For commended entries, previous honours should be noted on your entry form, and the entry should focus on the new achievements, successes and outcomes since you lodged the initial entry.

Previous winners

Previous winners of General or Volunteer Awards cannot enter the same initiative or team again.

Previous winners of the Premier’s Health Service of the Year Award may re-enter these categories.

Volunteer awards

  • The Health Volunteer Team of the Year is only open to teams.
  • The Health Volunteer Honour Roll is only open to individuals.

Nominees must have undertaken voluntary work or a volunteer activity in a Victorian government-funded healthcare organisation, or an organisation delivering public health programs, in the previous 12 months (i.e. 8 April 2023 – 7 April 2024).

The volunteer work or activity must satisfy Volunteering Australia’s definition of volunteeringExternal Link , being 'time willingly given for the common good and without financial gain', and the criteria of the selected award category.

All entries must be submitted by the healthcare organisation associated with the nominated volunteer/team.

If you are unsure of eligibility, contact the Awards Team via healthcareawards@health.vic.gov.au.
