The Centre for Mental Health Learning, Victoria (CMHL), will become the centre-piece for mental health workforce development in Victoria, creating a platform for learning and development activities, practice support resources, research, increased collaboration and access to expertise.

The CMHL will act as an umbrella organisation, helping to coordinate and leverage current mental health investments by partnering with state-wide trainers, Mental Health Workforce Learning and Development Clusters, health services, clinical academics and other stakeholders.

Dr Rosemary Charleston is the CMHL Director, and will be leading work to design the CMHL with stakeholders under a collective impact model.

The CMHL is in the early stages of establishment. Stakeholder consultation at this stage is crucial and a comprehensive stakeholder consultation strategy is currently in development. In this early period, the CMHL scope is public clinical mental health workforces. As the CMHL grows over time the target workforces are expected to expand to include those from related sectors.
