A new Centre for Mental Health Workforce Learning and Development  (the Centre) will become the centre-piece for mental health workforce development in Victoria, creating a platform for learning and development activities, practice support resources, research, increased collaboration and access to expertise.

The Centre will act as an umbrella organisation, helping to coordinate and leverage current mental health investments by partnering with state-wide trainers, Mental Health Workforce Learning and Development Clusters, health services, clinical academics and other stakeholders.

A competitive funding submissions  process was undertaken in July 2017 to identify a provider for the new Centre. NorthWestern Mental Health were successful in their bid to establish and operate the Centre. Centre staff and infrastructure is expected to be in place by March 2018.

The final model, including governance arrangements for the Centre will be collaboratively developed with stakeholders in the first phase of the project. Delivery of Centre functions is  expected to commence in the second half of 2018.

Centre project progress, as well as a plan for collaboration with the sector will be communicated via the department's Mental Health Workforce Newsletter.
