Setting up and accessing SafeScript

Access to SafeScript is available to all registered clinicians through a secure web portal at www.safescript.vic.gov.auExternal Link . This portal can also be accessed when you hand write prescriptions or practise in a hospital.

SafeScript is designed to be integrated into clinical workflow. This enables you to receive pop-up notifications to help quickly identify when you need to view information in SafeScript. Based on your clinical software see instructions below on how to integrate.

If you are unsure which of these options apply to you or your clinical software is not listed here, please contact SafeScript technical support or the SafeScript general enquiries team via the contact details on this page.

  • Quick reference guides for registration are available at the bottom of this page.

Prescribers and pharmacists who are not yet registered will be emailed a link and instructions on how to register for SafeScript shortly. If you opted out of receiving this email, you can register at www.safescript.vic.gov.auExternal Link . A technical support line is available on 1800 723 379 to assist clinicians through the registration process.

If you are accessing SafeScript for the first time please follow the steps in the SafeScript Practitioner First Time Login Guide.

It’s easy to get started with SafeScript’s once off registration process.

To start, click on the SafeScript registration link sent to your AHPRA email address. Practitioners who did not receive the registration email will be able to register by going to the SafeScript website.

Firstly, you will need to verify your identity and registration details against your AHPRA details; then you will be able to set up your own unique username and password.

When you first log in SafeScript you’ll also select your preferred method of additional security. This is when you choose the way you’ll receive your daily authentication code via SMS, through the smartphone app or via an automated phone call.

Authentication at the point of log-in is a necessary security measure to protect patients’ data stored in SafeScript against unauthorised access.

Every day after you log in to SafeScript you’ll be asked to set your preferred pin code, which can be used to access SafeScript for the rest of the day without the full log in process.

Congratulations! You are now logged in and ready to get started with SafeScript.
